04-Aug-09 14:05 - Read moreLibra Directors and associates are experienced in the design and implementation of conflict resolution programmes in support of conflict prevention and building lasting peace. To achieve a coherent approach we work in close co-ordination with donors, United Nations agencies and military missions, international organisations, local and international non-governmental orgainisations and recipient governments. A cross-cutting theme throughout all of our activities is the promotion of open and transparent dialogue to overcome grievances and engage groups-in-conflict.
Through consultation and dialogue, our programmes engage the local population, broader civil society and non-governmental organisations, promoting reconciliation and conflict resolution. We use a range of mechanisms including capacity-building and income generation to restore confidence and build trust at community level. Projects are designed to address the root-causes of conflict - such as the exclusion of disadvantaged groups from employment opportunities - and to build capacity within non-governmental organisations and other non-state actors and networks at local level, improving their operational, management and administrative capabilities. We believe in an innovative approach that engages the private sector in building lasting peace.
